Taking it one room at a time.

It’s hard not to feel overwhelmed when you’re thinking you’d like to make some changes to your home & so I often recommend to my clients to just tackle it one room at a time. Don’t get me wrong, it’s great to consider how rooms work with & into each other, but prioritising making decisions for one often feels a lot calmer.
I would suggest, starting by asking yourself….How do I want to feel in this space? Calm and serene? Inviting and vibrant? Cozy and snug? That feeling can then guide your ideas, & importantly your decisions.
Once you’ve got your mood in mind, focus on just a few key elements:
Layout – Does the furniture feel sociable? Is there room to move comfortably?
Colour palette – Even one fresh coat of paint or a new throw can make a world of difference
Lighting – Layers make all the difference: overhead, walls or lamps.
Textures – Mixing materials like linen, leather, wool or rattan can bring depth without visual clutter.
Don’t feel pressured to overhaul everything at once. One thoughtful update often leads naturally to the next. And once this room feels ‘right’, you might find it gives you the energy & excitment you need to move onto the next.
I'd love to help you out with that one room, or more so please do get in touch at laura@bylauralondon.com or via Instagram message searching @interiors_bylauralondon.
