Crushing on cushions.

Now...where to start? The wide world of the scatter cushion. A staple in the interiors world with some thinking there are set rules to follow to get it right, but I think just a little consideration & a good browse is the answer.
Consider Sizes - For double beds & up - I tend to opt for a couple of larger size cushions (50-55cm) & then a couple of smaller size. But really it does depend on how many pillows you've got - you do need to be able to fit on there! For Sofas, around 50cm is great but smaller sofas or single armchairs, fine to go more 40-45cm.
Consider Colours & Patterns - If your bed cover is patterned maybe go one block colour plus a different pattern in a similar colour ways. If you've got a single colour duvet, I recommend patterns. Don’t be afraid to not be too matchy. Consider a contrast colour that is similar to something else in your room rather than the bed. The colour will draw your eye to the wider space of the room.
Inners- make sure you check when you are buying a cushion if it is just the cover or it comes with an inner. I would tend to always go feather inners for comfort & squishability. And you can order a slighly larger inner (+5cm) for a really plump feel but I wouldnt have a smaller inner than your cushion cover as it will feel empty.
Where would I recommend you look first to get you going with ideas?
John Lewis - a great range of patterns, usually with some exciting collabs with designers which are on-trend. Watch out to check sizes & if they come with a nice inner or you need to buy it separately.
Cotswold Co - they do some lovely quality cushions for a great price. Particularly great if you’re looking for something with quite an English country home vibe, bringing in some nice textures.
Rockett St George - if you like brave & bold designs & colours, this is a great place to start.
Cushions are often the icing on the cake or a great little trick if you’re just looking for add a little something to a room - be it a pattern, colour or texture.
Over to you...
